DISC FAQs

How fast can you turn around my disc project?

The question should be: How fast do you need it?  While we set suggested turn times based on your quantity and production method – we can make just about anything happen.  Need discs tomorrow?  Not a problem.  We can even handle same day orders.

What format do you want for a master?

For CD and DVD orders, masters should be submitted exactly as you would want the final copies to play.  This means if you have a DVD Video project, your master should be a playable DVD-R.  We can accept tape formats as well – give us a call if you have specific requirements or if you prefer a different format.

Can I just send you the files and have you burn a master?

We offer disc authoring services, but they are not included in the quoted disc price.  Let us know what you need, and we’ll come through for you.  If we provide authoring services for your project, we require that you sign off on a master before going to production.  Please keep this in mind when figuring timelines.

What is the difference between duplication and replication?

Duplication and replication are simply different production methods to get digital information on a disc.  Duplication involves “burning” content onto a CD-R, DVD-R, or BD-R disc.  Replication involves “stamping” content into polycarbonate plastic, and then “metalizing” the stamped surface.  Typically, duplication is most efficient for low to medium volume disc orders, and replication is most efficient for high volume orders.

So, which one should I get?

The primary factors are timeline and cost.  If you have a small number of discs, or if you have a very tight timeline (1-3 days), duplication is the way to go.  If you are ordering in large volume and/or have more time to spare, replication will be the most efficient method.  Our account managers are very skilled at determining the best method for you.  Just give us a call and we can help you through the process.

DATA LOADING FAQ

Q: What Is Dataloading?
Get the most out of your branded USB drives by having us pre-load data on the USB’s. By data-loading you can use the USB drives as a way to distribute information such as presentations, PDF’s, photos, videos, catalogs and any other file type. Dataloading content reduces printed materials which is good for the environment and the bottom line!

Q: What can be put on the drive?
Any files that a computer can read can be loaded onto the USB drives. You can have a link to your website; a 30-second video spot for your company; a PowerPoint presentation; a PDF of your full catalog; or even a special computer program. The possibilities are endless!

Q: Is it compatible with Macintosh and Windows computers?

Q: What other options are available?
• Website Auto-Run
You provide us with a website address and we’ll have the USB’s link directly to the URL provided. When the USB is plugged in it will take the user directly to your specified webpage. This is a perfect way to drive customers to your website.

• Auto-run
Auto-run allows you to choose one file on your USB flash drive that you want to load every time the USB drive is plugged into the computer. Please note that auto-runs will not work on Macs and some PCs with very high security settings. Auto-runs are deletable.

• Data-locking (Non-erasable content)
Data-locking will store your data permanently on the drive, ensuring that it is not erased. Data locking requires the drives to be partitioned into two parts. One part can be used like a normal flash drive: files can be loaded, opened and deleted as usual. The second part shows up on the computer as a CD-Rom drive and contains the locked data which cannot be deleted or edited. Mac users cannot see the locked part of the drive.
